  1. My cousin is on the 8th day of a coma. My sister and I will go pray for him tomorrow, and need some words and reinforcements. (Saturday, Jan 8, 2011) Please pray for us and with us as we believe for his healing and total restoration. Buzzy

  2. My little girl, Amy, suffered a traumatic brain injury in January 2010. Amy was hit by a truck while she was riding her push scooter in front of our home on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, Amy has not had your blessings as of today, but I will never lose faith or hope for my little girl! We could use encouragement and ideas for rehab. I lost my private insurance when I elected to stay at home with my daughter, I am an RN and I love her, so there was no choice as far as I am concerned! God Bless

  3. I have a son that was hit by a car when he was 5 yrs old who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. He scored on the Glascow coma scale a 5 when he arrived. He was in a coma for at least 12-15 days or longer. It is all a big blur. When he finally came out of a coma, he was paralyzed on the right side of his body and could not speak. He recovered physically very quickly but as he is approaching his teen years, academically he is falling further and further behind. He is now in the 6th grade scoring 3rd and 4th grade on math and reading. English may be 2nd grade. Unfortunately, my school system here does not understand what it takes to teach a traumatic brain injury child that has short term memory loss, processing information quickly, frustration, etc. I have been trying to find someone that can help my child. Is there anyone that can help recommend a school that my child can continue his education and not become one of the statitics of a typical TBI child that does not graduate. I will not accept that he can not learn because I know he has the potential and the desire to learn. Is there help out there that I am not aware of?

  4. I learned about you from Mrs. Stanton from TIRR by reading her son’s website. My husband in on the 6th floor at TIRR, but the discharge date is Feb. 5th next week. My husband, Shawn Goff, was driving to work on Oct. 4, 2010 and was hit head on by a Ford 250 truck. He was life flighted to Memorial Hermann in Houston, he suffered a traumatic brain injury, both legs were broke, and left arm/wrist was broke. He didn’t have as many surgeries as you have had, but has had many. He was in a coma for about 6-7 weeks, so I guess he has been awake for about 2 months. TIRR has been really good for him, he is still not able to communicate with gestures or verbally communicate, his right arm is still not able to move, and his right leg is now starting to move at the top, and seems to be working its way down. From the beginning we have been told so many different ways from God that Shawn will be completely healed. I feel like we have much in common and the number one thing, is God. Your family including you and your wife, children, and your parents are such an inspiration. I am not talking about outward appearances when I say that I think that you are such a beautiful person. You are doing exactly what God wants you to do and that is to spread his word and speak your testimony, and I have always felt from the very beginning that Shawn will be doing something like you one day. Our lives are all going to change from this trial for the better and greater good, and I can’t wait for God to lead us down the path that he wants us to go. Thank you for what you are doing, and I know God wanted me to see this. I hope that one day we will get to meet you and your family.

  5. Hello John,
My Granddaughter, Cayleigh Schwarz, is in TIRRS recovering from TBI and the progress she is making is remarkable. My son (Monte Jr.) was with her down on the first floor rehab when he saw a man clapping and cheering his daughters progress at walking……….My son came over to you and introduced himself to you and when you responded in kind, my son realized you were the person that had wrote the book he has been reading. The attitude you exhibited while visiting TIRRS and your book “A Miracle on the Road to Recovery” is an inspiration to all. Thank you for encouraging my Granddaughter as this has been a real positive for her and my Son. God was watching over Cayleigh when her accident happened…………….A guardian angel in the spirit of a mortal man (Tom Lowers) was there to save her life. It is people like Tom and yourself that inspire people of the goodness of God’s work. Cayleigh is making progress everyday and she as well as the rest of our family are truly inspired by people such as yourself that have overcome TBI.
